About This Competition
It’s Local Barley Time! This series holds a special relevance at M&C since it was the very competition we ran way back in 2021. We’ve had each years edition on the site since then & we continue with this tradition in 2025. Best of all, its only 0.99 p to enter. The lowest price we have ever had for this highly sought after bottle.
This year’s Springbank Local Barley is matured for 8 years in a 50-50 combination of bourbon and sherry casks. For this special bottling, they have used the historic Bere barley, grown exclusively at the local High Ranach Farm owned by Sir Paul McCartney
Official Tasting Notes
Nose – Notes of cracked black pepper, cigar box and sage on the nose introduce this year’s Local Barley.
Palate – There are notes of shortbread and salted caramel on the palate, along with a herbal, basil note.
Finish – A long, sweet finish with notes of toffee standing out.
