About This Competition
Living Souls Ninety-Nine & One is a limited-edition Blended Scotch Whisky released by the independent bottler Living Souls. It is famously known in the whisky community as a “happy accident” that offers exceptional value.
The name “99 and 1” refers to the specific blend ratio of the spirit, which was reportedly created by mistake at a bottling plant:
- 99% Single Malt: An 18-year-old heavily peated Island single malt, widely believed to be Ledaig from the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull.
- 1% Single Grain: A 3-year-old grain whisky that was “accidentally” added to the vatting
Because of the 1% grain content, the whisky must legally be labelled as a Blended Scotch rather than a Single Malt, and its official age statement is technically only 3 years old.
