About This Competition

An incredibly desirable GlenAllachie release, part of Batch 2 from the annual Virgin Oak Series where each bottling has been finished in new oak casks.

This 15 year old has been finished in a type of oak that is quite rare; Scottish Sessile Oak (Quercus Petrae), sourced from the Atlantic coast. Its rarity, costliness and tendency to knot mean it is scarcely used for whisky maturation. It is a hard oak to source and work with, and incredibly challenging to cooper into barrels. This has meant only a few barrels were produced.

If you’ve been following secondary market prices lately, you’ll know that the limited edition GlenAllachie’s have really taken off (e.g. GA30, GA21, GA 14 olorosso).
