About This Competition

The latest local barley release was distilled on 1 July 2015 from barley grown at Clochkiel Farm and matured in a mix of 60 percent bourbon casks and 40 percent sherry casks. I believe this is the 1st time Bere barley has been used in this series. This ancient variety of barley is the oldest strain of cultivated cereal in Britain & was almost extinct until the good folk at Bruichladdich decided to use it for their whisky a couple of decades back.

This is a release of 8,000 bottles to be released, which is a couple of thousand fewer than the previous couple of editions. SB fans will also have noticed that this is actually the 2nd Local Barley to be released this year. This was due to some erroneous planning at the bottling line. Does this mean we will have no Local Barley for 2026?

Also included are 20 instant wins ranging from Local Barley samples, our (just in time for Xmas) Springbank tasting set & a smattering of site credit.
