About This Competition
The Dewar’s Double Double 21 Year Old Mizunara is a limited-edition blended Scotch whisky that is finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks. The whisky is part of Dewar’s Double Double series, known for its unique four-stage aging process, which was developed by Master Blender Stephanie Macleod
- Four-stage aging:
- Individual malt and grain whiskies are aged for 21 years.
- The whiskies are blended within their own style (malt with malt, grain with grain) and aged again in casks.
- The malt and grain whiskies are combined and returned to casks to harmonize the flavors.
- Finally, the whisky is finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks.
- Mizunara oak casks: These casks are notoriously rare due to the slow growth and irregular shape of the Mizunara oak trees, which can take up to 200 years to mature. The wood imparts distinctive notes of sandalwood, coconut, and exotic spices.Â
