If you’ve never visited the town of Aberfeldy, put it on your t0-do list. Not only is it extremely picturesque but its also home to Aberfeldy distillery who do a fantastic tour & always seem to have a terrific cask available for a handfill. Whilst I had returned empty handed on my previous 2 visits, it was 3rd time lucky as I managed to squeeze in a trip before their latest cask got devoured.
Cask 500060 is a sherry butt that was filled in 2001 & disgorged perhaps a month or so ago. This is bottle #240. The cask strength ABV is at a near perfect 50.2%. I did have a cheeky nip of it at the bar & it is a warming dram well suited for the winter months. Quite fruity on the nose initially with a gentle progression to honey, mixed berry jam, a bit of rum & raisin cake. Its a delicious after-dinner fireplace dram & disnae need any dilution. Available exclusively to in-person visitors , this is not something that can be picked up at your local booze merchant.
