The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) uses a unique coding system where the first number (88) indicates the distillery and the second number (33) indicates the specific cask from that distillery.
Distillery 88 is Speyburn. Founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, it is known for producing a classic, light, and sweet Speyside spirit. Think Pink is a 15 year old whisky – finished in a 1st fill ex-port barrique after 12 years in ex-bourbon wood. This one is full of raspberry jam, redcurrants, strawberries, bubblegum, cherry, English madeleines, and hints of cough syrup and aniseed to finish.
