About This Competition
This is the first release of what Roy of the Aqvavitae YouTube channel would like to be a series of collaborative bottlings with independent bottlers. After eight successful releases in collaboration with distilleries, where Roy has always chosen the purest route to each of their distillates, his first indy project is with Decadent Drinks.
In this release of The Virtual Malt we find fun ways to celebrate the very welcoming, supportive and positive whisky community that’s built up around the channel and his weekly ‘vPub’ (virtual pub) broadcasts.
Angus and Roy selected a sherry hogshead of Speyside Single Malt of ‘undisclosed origin’. That’s undisclosed despite everyone knowing what it is. The hogshead yielded 344 bottles at 17 years old, bottled at Roy’s preferred strength of 55% ABV.
On the label artwork – masterfully hand-drawn by the talented Arne Wern of Instagram’s @DoodletheDram fame – we discover a 1920’s ‘pub’ scene where there are many easter eggs hinting at themes and scenes from the vPub, as well clues as to the origin of the malt.
