About This Competition
Yes, it is (arguably) the most in-demand & unique cage bottle in recent history. For those unaware, cage bottles are essentially cask samples sold exclusively at the distillery shop in Campbeltown. Over the years they have gained cult status among SB fans & whisky lovers in general. Bourbon barrels, refill sherry, the occasional port & other wine casks have all made an appearance in the cage, but last year a truly bizarre combination started popping up.
A 2012 Springbank matured in refill Calvados casks before being filled into Palo Cortado casks in 2022. SB in Calvados is virtually unheard of & it must have been a very active cask to make someone think that re-racking into sherry would tame it. A mad decision – a weird cask combination – a totally unpredictable outcome. Did this experiment work?
Those lucky enough to try cant stop singing its praises. If you’d like a chance at finding out for yourself then I would strongly advise entering this competition. There is also a £150 cash alternative in case anyone prefers a different kind of liquidity.
