About This Competition
Whiskymakers have been known to come up with some wacky ideas & this is definitely one of them. GREEN TEA influenced Whisky!
If you’ve been playing with us since our early days this might sound familiar. Indeed, back in 2021 Mackmyra released the Grönt Te using Oloroso sherry casks seasoned with green tea leaves. It was certainly the most ‘interesting’ dram I had that year & surprisingly quite enjoyable !
Fast forward a few years & Mackmyra has continues its experimentation and released the KAIZEN trilogy. The expressions have been aged in ex-bourbon casks saturated with 3 different Japanese teas – resulting in three complex whiskies with untraditional tasting notes.
For Kaizen 01 the casks were saturated with Gyokuro – dark green tea from Japan characterized by its sweetness and complexity
