About This Competition
Everyone’s been going nuts about Campbeltown lately. but the younger sibling from Kintyre peninsula continues to languish in the shadows of the mighty Springbank. GlenScotia have been banging out some proper belters lately though and seasoned drammers continue to ignore this distillery at their peril.
Hot on the heels of their 25 year old winning 2021 whisky of the year, Glen Scotia released two cask strength beauties. The winner of this competition gets to choose which one to take home !! Yaaassss
The Contenders:
A) Glen Scotia 10 Year Old Bordeaux Red Wine Finish – Campbeltown Malts Festival 2021. A limited edition to mark the annual festival. The result of a series of unpeated distillations from between 2009 and 2011, aged 10 years in first fill bourbon barrels. The casks were vatted together and finished for five months in first fill Bordeaux Medoc red wine casks.
B) Glen Scotia 12 year old Seasonal Release 2021. A limited edition 12 year old single malt whisky. Matured in first fill Bourbon and American Oak hogsheads, then finished for 12 months in first fill Oloroso hogsheads and heavily charred American Oak barrels. The guys over at Malt Review gave this one a rare score of 8/10 !!
