Time to venture East …..over to Taiwan. Due to its prime location along trading routes, many colonial powers thought of it as hot property, and as such attempted (and oftentimes succeeded) to seize control of its busy ports. I’d imagine the allure would have been even greater had there been a booming whisky industry back then.

Particularly renowned for their sherry matured whiskies, Kavalan has been steadily raising its profile over the past decade and the Solist: Vinho Barrique even took home the Worlds Best Single Malt award in 2015!

This bottle here is a single cask of the Solist Madeira bottled exclusively for 2 Taiwanese Whisky Connoisseur societies.  There were just 202 individually numbered bottles produced at a strength of 56.3% abv. free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.
