The Glenfarclas 40 Year Old Warehouse Edition is a highly coveted, ultra-premium single malt Speyside Scotch whisky, famous for its bespoke wooden presentation box styled after the iconic red dunnage warehouse doors of the Glenfarclas Distillery. First launched to commemorate 180 years of family-owned production, this small-batch expression is matured exclusively in fine Oloroso sherry casks and is typically bottled at 43% ABV
While Glenfarclas initially introduced its original 40-year-old expression in 2010 (packaged in a purple-pink tube), the 2016 release marked the official debut of the brand’s premium, redesigned “Warehouse Edition”. While it is a core age statement in the Glenfarclas lineup, it is not mass-produced. Because stock of 40-year-old whisky is naturally limited, the distillery bottles it in small, designated annual batches. Due to natural cask variation, some years can lean slightly more oak-forward or more fruit-driven than others
Besides the main prize there are also 50 instant wins including 15 official distillery miniatures from the 80s and 90s
