About This Competition

Our feature competition for Super September is another distillery exclusive.  This time from the up & coming GlenAllachie distillery which has stormed onto the whisky scene in the past couple of years. A large part of their recent success has been down to the influence of owner & master distiller Billy Walker, infamous for his cask selection superpowers.

This is an 11 year old single cask finished for 18 months in a Grattamacco Tuscan red wine cask & hand-filled at the distillery. Grattamacco is a top tier Italian winery famous for its special blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Sangiovese.  Their partnership with GlenAllachie has resulted in some tremendous whisky of late.

The colour is a lovely hue of rose or ruby blush, depending on the time of day. On the nose – expect loads of toffee, honey, apricots & peaches. Palate – silky chocolate, forest berries, toffee all enveloped in a surprisingly oily texture.
