About This Competition

Its been a while since we had some distilled sugarcane at Malt & Cane and we have a masterpiece of a rum for you to win. Foursquare is to rum what GlenDronach is to whisky. Well, maybe a wee bit sweeter & certainly a lot less pricier. Foursquare’s quality & reputation has largely been built on the success of the exceptional cask series. These are (relatively) large batch releases averaging about 15,000 bottles with 2-3 editions (known as Marks) released annually. They are much loved in the rum community & have even been known to convert some of the most hardcore whisky loyalists.

Foursquare Equidem is Mark 27 in the ECS range & it is destined to achieve legendary status. Not only is it the darkest rum in the series so far but it is also probably the most innovative. In what is probably a world first, this has been aged for 9 of its 14 years in a Black Muscat barrels. Only a few producers work with the extremely tannic black Muscat grapes to make fortified wine.

So how did this experiment turn out? Rum heaven……Its thick, its luscious, its leathery, its coconutty, its fruity, its oaky, its smoky, its complex & it lingers for ages. This is the epitome of slow, sipping rum. Don’t miss your chance to try this beauty.
