Continuing our maritime theme for the month (this was unintentional btw!), here’s another stellar drinker. This time from the ever reliable Bunnahabhain. Sadly, the days of cheap as chips Bunna’s are no more. What was once the best value distillery around has undergone the dreaded ‘premiumisation’.
This is a 15 year old single cask bottled by Morrisson distillers as part of their revamped Carn Mor : Celebration of the Cask series. Filled in 2005, only 183 bottles made it out of this hogshead. This is all spirit driven; no fancy cask finishes here but with Bunna this is hardly a limitation. Honeysuckle and orange liqueur with a very gentle hint of smoke are the official tasting notes.
