About This Competition

The Balvenie Distillery was founded in 1892 in Dufftown. They’re one of few Scottish distilleries that use their own traditional malting floor, on which barley is dried after being soaked. They have a resident coppersmith to massage the stills, as well as a team of coopers to watch diligently over the barrels. Quite fitting then that I would find a few bottles of this now discontinued classic in Dufftown itself!

Elder sibling to the DoubleWood 12 year old , the 17 year shares its honeyed, spicy characteristics, but is distinctly different, with deeper vanilla notes, hints of green apple, creamy toffee and a striking richness and complexity.  Consecutive maturation in two different types of cask is at the heart of The Balvenie DoubleWood – it sees the whisky matured first in American oak barrels, before being transferred to European oak sherry casks.

Alas, all good things must end & the decision to axe this long running release last year was quite unexpected. This is a wonderful opportunity to win (another?) one for your stash.

There are 15 early bird bonus tickets up for grabs. Simply add a minimum of 2 Balvenie tickets to your cart & use code FAREWELL17 at checkout.
