Glenfarclas has launched the 5th & final expression in its annual Decanter Series, with just 600 decanters available wordwide. Decanter V consists of 15 yr old whisky aged in a single oloroso cask. This is an uncompromising, oily and creamy sherry bomb. Classic orange and dark chocolate on the nose, followed by even richer dates, toffee apple and pecans, with long, almost peppery spice to the finish. Chairman John Grant says its his favourite in the range, and it is bottled at a full 60% ABV.
Presented in a Glencairn crystal decanter, in a magnificent wooden gift box. It closes a series that began with a 25 year old in 2022, followed by a Port pipe, a cask from the year 2000, and the last cask of the millennium.
We have had Decanters I, II and III on the site before, but skipped IV becasue of its exorbitant price tag (These are still available for RRP from stockists for those interested) . Glenfarclas has also said that there will be a special treat for those collectors owning all 5 bottles in the series, but there hacent been any specific details about that yet.
