Another cracking Winner’s Choice competition; this time featuring the fantastic Ardnamurchan distillery. Both peated, both single casks, both 10 years old & both total flavour bombs, but one is an indy bottling by SMWS whilst the other is an official bottling in collaboration with Marloe watch company.
The SMWS 149.23, aptly called “Beware the Lurkin’ Gherkin” is a throwback to the fabled Ardnagherkin. A mix of farmyard, coastal brine, camphor, antiseptic & peat fire hearth embers. It’s weird and wonderful in equal measure. 1 of only 188 bottles.
For those who prefer not to step out of their comfort zone, we have Cask 420. This is lightly peated matured in a first-fill American oak & finished in an ex PX sherry hogshead. Bottled in collaboration with the very stylish Marloe Watch company to celebrate their 10 year anniversary this has a lush smoky & sweet profile with juts the perfect level of maritime influence to make it standout from your standard sherry tipple. 1 of 327 bottles
