Here’s a name we don’t see very often. Tucked away in a bay overlooking the Dornoch firth, Balblair has been operating since 1790 for well over 200 years. When I Stopped by in early 2024 I picked up this distillery exclusive bottled for the Highland Whisky Festival. Cask #487 was filled in 2006 & lay in slumber till 2023. This 16 yr old whisky showcases Balblair’s fruit & malt forward profile which has held it in good stead amongst many blended whiskies over decades past. This is easy, breezy, uncomplicated Scotch at its best.
