About This Competition

Newly re-discovered resting against the back wall of a storage closet, is an independent bottling of Ardbeg single malt from Darkness, showcasing the delicious marriage between smoke and sherry. This 14-year-old Islay expression has been finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave cask, allowing for huge sherry-bomb notes, before being bottled at a sturdy 47.7% abv.

Because they’re smaller than your run-of-the-mill cask, these octaves offer a greater surface area to volume ratio, and they impart oodles of sherried notes, which work very well with Ardbeg’s characteristic salinity and smokiness.  Only 292 bottles exist.
