About This Competition

We’ve been operating since 2021 and over 6 years on we have NEVER had an Auchentoshan on the site. Why is that? Well, im afraid I dont really have a convincing reason for you. Maybe its the triple distillation (not that there’s anything inferior about that), maybe because there’s too much of it in Tesco, or maybe its one thats just not cracked open enough within my social circle. Whatever the rationale, I can genuinely say that despite it being on my doorstep, I really dont have much of an opinion about Auchentoshan.

That being said , when a reasonably well priced 38- year old Toshan appears on one’s radar, it must not be dismissed. 38 years full maturation in sherry ? Precisely the reason credit cards were invented. Distilled in 1987 & bottled by Milroys, I think the accompanying buyers’ note does a stellar job of explaining why you must have this bottle:

“Old, heavily sherried Auchentoshan doesn’t come around often. We spotted it so we snapped it up.  Its triple distillation results in an incredibly light spirit, crafting a clean canvas to show the quality of the sherry cask. The combination of long age, triple-distilled spirit and strong wood influence feels like a Scotch-Cognac-rum hybrid might.”
